David Aguirre: Personal Mythology in Clay, August 11-12 & 18, 2007

An Ah Haa School workshop conducted at Deep Creek Arts

Class Details:
Three days, Saturday & Sunday & following Saturday, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Open to all skill levels
Cost is $250 (plus a $40 materials fee)
Class will take place in the Ah Haa School in Telluride, Colorado

The Ah Haa school is fortunate to have David Aguirre share his intuitive approach to his imaginative figurative forms. Beginning and advanced students can expect three days of self-exploration. Clay offers an immediate access into one’s own personal mythology: underlying images and energies that shape your daily experience. Students should bring images that interest them, such as magazine cutouts, books, poems, etc. The class will be physical, energetic, and a call students to think outside the box. On the third day, at the Deep Creek School, the class will focus on glazing the newly formed sculptures, firing them in the raku kiln, and pulling them out with gloved hands and tongs!

Recognized early on as a talented ceramic artist, David Aguirre, began his career after receiving his master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin in 1987. Aguirre has since resided in Tucson, Arizona where he produces ceramic figurative sculptures in his desert art studio. He has taught ceramics at the University of Texas-San Antonio and Pima Community College focusing on the raku process. In the Spring 2007 he founded the Presidio Center for Ceramic Arts in Tucson. In Telluride he is represented by Lucas Gallery.

Pre-registration is required for this class. Students must register and pay in full 30 days prior to the workshop. This guarantees ample income to cover artist's travel expenses. Payment is non-refundable. Classes with visiting artists fill quickly so please sign up early by calling 970-728-3886.
